Vybz Kartel appeal is back on the forefront.

Is the Court of Appeal ready to hand down a verdict in Vybz Kartel’s appeal case? The dancehall deejay and his co-convicts have been waiting on a judgment for almost a year. The case was presented before the courts in July last year. Kartel’s attorney, Valerie Neita-Robertson, says that she plans to inquire with the court about the case, but still knows that ultimately we have to wait whatever time the court deems fit to review the case thoroughly.

“We have to wait for the Court of Appeal to hand down their judgment,” Neita-Robertson said. “We have not been told by them that it is ready, so we continue to wait.”

Earlier this year, Vybz Kartel grew antsy about the length of time it is taking for a verdict to be reached while adding that he plans to take the case all the way to the high courts in the United Kingdom if necessary.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, Shawn ‘Storm’ Campbell, Andre St John, and Kahira Jones, are currently serving life in prison for the killing of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams. The four men were convicted in a lengthy but often controversial murder trial in 2014. The Gazanation leader was given the most substantial sentence. He would have to serve 35 years before being eligible for parole. On the other hand, his co-convicts were given 25-30 years before they’re eligible for a parole hearing.

In the meantime, Vybz Kartel has been keeping himself busy recording new music for his fans who have been supporting him throughout the last eight years. There is also the question of his health behind bars. His attorney assured fans that he is doing okay now, but still has a lingering thyroid problem that he has to be getting regular treatment to keep under control.
