Tory Lanez is defending his friend Jacquees from an onslaught from Ella Mai.
The “Trip” remix saga took an ugly turn when Jacquees performed the controversial single on Tuesday when Tory Lanez brought him out at the O2 Arena in London for the “Assassination Vacation Tour.” Ella Mai left a feisty message on her Twitter feed directed towards the Atlanta R&B singer. “I’d be so embarrassed if someone brung me on stage and the only thing I could sing was someone else’s song because nobody knew my actual music,” she wrote while adding, “Poor thing.”
Jacquees and his girlfriend Dreezy has since addressed Ella Mai’s comment. Both of them expressed that he didn’t want to perform the song, but was asked to since it’s a fan favorite. Last year, DJ Mustard have the song pulled from streaming services over copyright issues. Jacquees revealed that he and Mustard had since ironed out their differences and are even planning to make music together.
Tory Lanez posted a video clip from the performance showing that the fans was loving the guest appearance from Jacquees. “I brought my lil brother out to HIS OWN SH*T… My n***a ain’t even wanna perform the remix,” the Canadian singer wrote. “Matter fact he hate performing it … But I put him on the spot. Cuz I figured we was in London at the O2, 30,000 in the stands and bunch of kids was asking for the REMIX.”
Jacquees also pointed out that all of his own solo songs are certified gold and platinum, contrary to what Ella Mai said.
