Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne M. Carter, was born on September 27, 1982 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Wayne also called Weezy joined the rap group The Hot Boys as a teen before going solo under Cash Money Records headed by Birdman. To date Lil Wayne is one of the highest selling rappers of all time and is credited for discovering the likes of Drake and Nicki Minaj.
