Drake Unfollows Timbaland Over Comment About UMG Lawsuit, DJ Akademiks Weighs In

Drake

Drake has reportedly hit the unfollow button on Timbaland on Instagram following the veteran producer’s comment about his pending lawsuit against UMG.

Drake is ending a tumultuous year with legal actions against one of the biggest labels by market share in the world, Universal Music Group. The Toronto rapper lawyered up against the label all over Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us.” According to his legal documents, UMG and Spotify engaged in nefarious practices to boost the song to hurt him.

Drake also admitted that the release of the song hurt him economically, following lyrics that labeled him a pedophile, among other things. DJ Akademiks has been commenting extensively on the legal action. Timbaland posted a shaking head emoji comment on that post. He later commented on one of his posts, saying, “That head shake means let the story play out. Mal might b on to something. They say you have to destroy to rebuild.”

The producer also commented on an Instagram post that questioned if Drake could win a massive $2 billion lawsuit against UMG and declared war on the music industry. It seems Drake didn’t like what he had to say and decided to unfollow him. We doubt Timbaland is losing any sleep over Drizzy’s actions on social media, but perhaps he didn’t want the attention that comes with it.

“Now we’ve seen Timbaland,” AK started. “With Timbaland we’ve seen historically I thought he had a good relationship with him Drake. But apparently Drake then go and unfollowed him.” DJ Akademiks also shared a clip of the producer previously defending Drake from backlash for remixing an Aaliyah song.

Timbo has not followed up on his comment, and neither has Drake addressed the alleged unfollowing. But we do know that Drizzy was previously following the veteran producer on Instagram, so perhaps the emoji comment might’ve stirred the pot a little too much. Then there is the topic of Lebron James, spotted in a viral video warming up to Kendrick Lamar’s music from the album GNX.
