Bow Wow has weighed in on the Diddy scandal stating that it has put a lid on the celebrity party scene.
The rapper/actor is known for making outlandish comments about various topics in the entertainment space. Still, even this one might be out of the ballpark for him. Unless you’ve been living off the grid for the past year, you would’ve already known that Diddy is facing a barrage of legal troubles including several lawsuits and a serious federal indictment which could see him spend decades in prison.
Diddy has never been shy about his parties, which he referred to in the past as the best parties in town. Celebrities have been known to flack his parties. According to Bow Wow, not only has that stopped since the allegations against the Bad Boy mogul, but celebrities have also stopped going to parties. Shadmoss appeared on the More 2 The Story podcast this weekend, where he gave his take on the matter.
“Never. I just never thought I would see it like this,” Bow Wow said. “Like, nah. Nah. He’s like the gatekeeper to the game. To the point to where… What weekend just passed? Like, BET Award weekends. Like, the past two days just didn’t feel right. ‘Cause there was no motion, there was no parties.” Shadmoss continues, “There was nowhere to go. Like – no, the industry parties that we attend, [not the ‘freak-offs’]. Like, me, the you [the interviewer], the terraces. Once again, I’m separating it, right? I’m talking about him as the artist, the person, right?”
This shift in how celebrities are interacting with each other and those outside the industry is a testament to Diddy’s grip on the culture, according to Bow Wow. “Because I said, ‘Jermaine, I just, there’s no parties’,” the actor said. “Every year, dude had the – And you feel it. It’s like a hole, it’s like, ‘Damn.’ He was just such a gatekeeper, from the liquor in the clubs. Like, he was everything hip-hop. You know what I mean? So for that to die out, it’s like, you just would’ve never thought. Especially when you look at somebody as somebody you studied, somebody you idolized.”
Bow Wow stated that he never saw it coming that Diddy would be in the position he is currently in. The hip-hop mogul is currently awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. He is being held without bond at The Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. “I never thought we would see him in this position. Ever.’ He’s like the gatekeeper to the game,” Bow said.
As it turns out, those comments got him into hot water with some fans calling him out on social media. “He’s not monumental to the culture he’s monumental to the celebrities, speak for yourself,” one fan quipped. Another fan said, “Bow Wow miss those parties you can hear it in his voice. You can tell he was at a lot of Diddy parties.”
