Popcaan and Spice could make an appearance at Vybz Kartel’s “Freedom Street” concert on New Year’s Eve.

While Kartel did say he is unsure if his former protege and collaborator would be performing at the event, sources are now telling Urban Islandz that there are talks behind the scenes about which artists will make a surprise appearance at the show. “Freedom Street” is set for December 31st at the National Stadium and we’re told that tickets are almost sold out, meaning you can expect a packed audience.

Vybz Kartel teamed up with Downsound Entertainment principal Joe Bogdanovich for his first live show since being released from prison over the summer. Tickets are on sale online and at physical locations islandwide, but some fans are still complaining that they were unable to secure tickets.

Fans have also been inquiring about the lineup for the big event. We’re told by sources inside the production team that Vybz Kartel is expected to perform a three-hour set and will bring out some of his notable collaborators to perform some of his biggest collaborations with him. Among the names include Popcaan, Spice, Tommy Lee Sparta, and Masicka.

“Some special guests will make cameos for sure some big collaborations Kartel drop over the years that fans will want to see him perform like ‘Clarks’ and ‘Romping Shop’ to name a few,” our source said. “Poppy, Spice, Masicka, Tommy Lee and even some veterans showed interest in performing. But we have to keep the show organize and within the time frame allotted so don’t expect every artist out there to take the stage.”

Vybz Kartel recently shared in an interview that he isn’t sure if Popcaan will perform and that he doesn’t want a “bag of men” on the stage with him.

“A don’t sure yet inno a don’t know, him did do good in a class him never copy,” Kartel said when asked about Popcaan’s possible performance. “As time goes by unnu will hear the lineup you hear weh me a say and me can tell the people dem this, a nuh bag a man thing pan me show.”

Vybz Kartel’s sons Likkle Vybz and Likkle Addi are also expected to perform at the New Year’s Eve event, as well as other artists who will be booked as opening acts.
