The “Hot Girl Summer” song won’t be coming out today.
Rising Houston star Megan Thee Stallion promised her fans an anthem that would give her now-famous catchphrase it’s just due, and the “Hot Girl Summer” song was supposed to drop Friday. But the leader of the “Hotties” announced Thursday that the release of the song was pushed back a week. “Hotties I kno I said my song “HOTGIRL SUMMER “would be dropping tomorrow but now it’s dropping 8/9 ! I promise it’s sooo worth the wait,” Megan tweeted.
The song comes on the heels of the 2019 XXL Freshman class rapper applying to trademark the phrase “Hot Girl Summer,” when brands and companies began using it as a buzzword for promotional purposes.
After Megan said she would be pushing back the song, many fans started to speculate if that meant she was waiting on a feature – and many are hoping it’s from Nicki Minaj. Last week the two female MCs had a live chat via Instagram where they promised to collab someday, and Megan paid her respects to Nicki’s legacy.
At that point, Nicki and Meg probably already had something cooking. Since there is a small chance we would ever get the collab we want from Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, it would be an amazing look for Nicki and Meg to hop on a record together. There is still time to make a summer anthem.
Hot Girl Summer will drop Friday, August 9… foreal this time.
