Birdman is ringing in the new year with the intention to patch things up with Lil Wayne or at the very least release Tha Carter V album.
Of course fans have gotten their hopes up before as in the case of last year when the briefly reconciled but only to have talks break down once again and let loose a full fledged beef. There was even a point over the last year that we felt that the album would never see the light of day, or at least Birdman did hinted that when Lil Wayne on stage antics was getting louder and more frequent.
The Cash Money CEO stopped by Travis Scott .wav radio show on Beats 1 on Apple Music yesterday where he gave a firm answer on whether or not Carter V will be released as an album. “Carter V coming out,” Birdman said when Scott asked him about the status of the album. “It’s definitely coming out. The situation with me and my son, bruh — I’ma put all of that behind us and just let it move forward.”
Lil Wayne hinted three new projects including Carter V coming soon.
Lil Wayne and Birdman might have been working things out behind the scenes because on Tuesday this week the Young Money rapper hinted that he has three new projects in the works that are coming soon and one of them is Tha Carter V. The other two projects are Funeral and Dedication 6. It’s not clear if those two will be full length LPs or just singles but he definitely noted Carter V as one of his upcoming releases.
The album Tha Carter V has been in the works since 2012 and Weezy confirmed on numerous ocassions that the project is complete. In December 2014, Lil Wayne went on a surprised Twitter rant against his label Cash Money Records and Birdman telling his fans that they are holding the album hostage and holding him hostage. A few months later he filed a $51 million lawsuit against his former mentor who was also like a father figure to him. They have yet to reconcile, but this is another sign that they can still make peace.
