Vybz Kartel says he is ready for a showdown with Usain Bolt on the track.
Vybz Kartel might still be at the height of his career in his niche, but Usain Bolt is retired from the tracks. That doesn’t mean that anyone who is not an athlete can beat him on the tracks. At least the Worl’Boss thinks he is up for the job. The dancehall legend shared a video this weekend of himself at the National Stadium doing prep work for his upcoming Freedom Street concert.

The dancehall artist is still feeling nostalgic about being outside after thirteen years behind bars, so naturally, seeing the famous tracks at the National Stadium makes him want to take a sprint. Vybz Kartel did just that with a few of his friends. After completing the friendly race, Kartel looked into the camera and said, “Usain! A you next. Wha this under me nose.”
Usain Bolt has not yet reacted to Vybz Kartel’s request for a race but instead shared a photo of himself posing with Brazilian football legend Ronaldo Nazario. “Elevated the Game to another level,” he wrote. Bolt is a huge fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, but it’s clear he is also a fan of the Brazilian with the same name.
Fans have been reacting to Kartel calling out Bolt for a race with laughter. “I came straight to the comments after watching…#team Kartel tho [laughing emoji],” one fan wrote. “This isn’t the rehearsal the fan dem waan see uncle. Kartel look like Jamaican trick daddy who he racing?” another wrote.
In the meantime, Vybz Kartel is rehearsing for his New Year’s Eve concert, Freedom Street. The event will be his first live performance since being released from prison in July 2024. The Portmore deejay is expected to perform a 3-hour set with guest artists, including Skillibeng, Tommy Lee Sparta, Spice, Popcaan, and more.
