Vybz Kartel Calls Out Pill Popping Culture In Dancehall In New Song ‘Cloudy’

Vybz Kartel

Vybz Kartel is not with the pill-popping culture in dancehall.

The Worl’Boss drops off his new song, “Cloudy,” ahead of his first post-prison show set for December 31, 2024. The dancehall legend has been slowly easing his way back into music following his release from prison in July this year after being incarcerated for close to 13 years. In his new song, Vybz Kartel shuns male artists who are popping pills in the music scene.

“Whole heep a grabba / Junkie bwoy go s–k out yuh fada and yuh mada,” Kartel deejays over a beat produced by TJ Records. “If you a smoke pan me ends / If a nuh weed den nuh bada / Bag a man a pop pill dem soon f— dem one another.”

It’s no surprise that Vybz Kartel is shunning the pill-popping era in dancehall, given that he is in the weed and grabba business with his Fire Vybz Premium Hot Grabba brand. The deejay is also back in the rum business with Str8 Vybz rum, which is now one of the hottest-selling rum in Jamaica.

“Me weed it loud and me smoke it proudly / Lowe me no p—y lowe me / No wah no beggy beggy smoker round me / Yow, you will get me rowdy / Me hot like di grabba suh no boy cya clown me,” the Worl’Boss deejays.

Vybz Kartel debuts the new solo single with a music video directed by AKA. Ruppi. The cut saw some familiar faces making cameos, including his fiancée, Sidem Ozturk, his right-hand man, Shawn Storm, and former Portmore Empire member Lisa Hyper.

The past few years in dancehall saw a rise in pill polling among some of the top new artists in the genre. The artists engaging in the use of those types of drugs are not shy about it, but Kartel is seemingly putting distance between himself and them.
