Alkaline debuts a new music video for the single “Blanco” on the heels of some recent comments from Vybz Kartel.
The Vendetta deejay has been very active on the musical front this year with a consistent release of new songs, but this marks his first music video in almost a year. The Griselda Blanco-inspired track was released in September with AjusDiVybz and Autobamb Records handling the production side. The ShotbyShak-directed cut features Alkaline showcasing his wealth including his estate, his own helicopter, and a McLaren supercar.
“Although mi rich already, Still want the paper, more monetary, Mek tek that so literally yow, Visionary, Mi and yuh gyal and di billions,” Alka deejays.
Alkaline was recently in the headlines not for his music, but for what Vybz Kartel said about him. The “Top Striker” deejay and the Worl’Boss have a longstanding beef in dancehall. However, in his new interview on ER, Kartel says there is no bad blood with the prolific deejay, but admitted that a friendship is unlikely.
“A mean it’s a good water that’s it… big up Mavado,” Kartel said. “There is no bad blood either, I’m a grown man, I’m a changed man… we don’t hold grudges.”
Alkaline has not responded to Vybz Kartel’s statement. Perhaps he is letting his music speak on his behalf. His new song “Blanco” has a combine one million views on YouTube, with the music video reaching 100,000 views within a couple hours after release. These are impressive numbers in an era when music streaming is down from its pre-pandemic peak.
