While 2018 was Cardi B’s year, 2019 is most definitely Lizzo’s year.
The singer can add another win to her list as her song “Truth Hurts” is now tied with rapper Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” as the longest-running #1 solo hit by a female rap artist in Hot 100 history. On Monday, September 16th, the announcement was made via Chart Data on Twitter. Her reign on the chart this year is a huge achievement for the rapper/singer despite criticisms from fans stating that she isn’t a rapper hence doesn’t qualify.
The singer responded to the honor tweeting, “LOVE U CARDI LETS GET THIS SCHMONEYYY @HustlersMovie IN THEATERS NOW” while simultaneously promoting her new movie which is currently the #1 movie in the country. The movie, Hustler, was a box office hit and it opened to about $33.2 million in domestic ticket sales.
Lizzo‘s “Truth Hurts” also became the number 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 charts on September 3rd where it is currently still going strong at the number one position for the third week in a row. Rapper Cardi B also congratulated her on topping the charts.
Lizzo is certainly making it a point to prove to everyone that she is 100 percent that b**ch. In 2019 alone she has performed at Coachella, The BET Awards and The VMAs. Her song “Juice” was also featured in the number 6 position on President Obama’s Summer Playlist 2019.
Fans are now pleading with Lizzo and Cardi B to do a collaboration together. We know a track featuring both would surely break a lot of records.
