Megan Thee Stallion has officially confirmed Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign for “Hot Girl Summer.”
Megan Thee Stallion was full of surprises Monday. Well, the first of the day wasn’t such a surprise but more so a confirmation of what we all knew and hoped for: Nicki Minaj will be featured on the “Hot Girl Summer” song. Megan has been teasing the song that coins her catchphrase for the last few weeks and even pushed back the release date, leaving fans to speculate that she needed more time to add a feature. Over the weekend, music discovery app Shazam added more fuel to rumors that Megan would tap her new bestie Nicki Minaj for the song after accidentally leaking information via the app.
Monday morning, Breakfast Club host DJ Envy confirmed that Onika was on the track, so it only made sense that Meg let the cat out of the hot girl bag. She dropped the artwork for the song that also features Ty Dolla $ign on social media Monday afternoon.
“REAL MF HOT GIRL SH*T THE HOT GIRLS TOOK OVER THE MF SUMMER SO IT WAS ONLY RIGHT TO GIVE THE HOTTIES THE OFFICIAL TRACK !!! HOT GIRL SUMMER FT. @nickiminaj and @tydollasign dropping 8/9,” she said on Instagram. On Twitter, she used what may be her next big catchphrase “Don’t run from me friend” to promote the single. The phrase caught on after Megan used it in an Instagram Live chat with Nicki on July 28.
After finally giving the Hotties and the Barbs what they’ve been waiting for, Megan Thee Stallion pulled a surprise pop-up at Drake’s OVO Fest. The Houston “It” girl posted a video of Drake bringing her to the stage during his set Monday night.
So that makes two co-signs from the Young Money team in one day for the rising star that is Megan Thee Stallion, a testament to her momentum as a new artist in the rap game.
