Vybz Kartel lawyers will likely submit their skeletal argument to the appeal court judges sometime this month.
The Jamaica Appeal Court set the highly anticipated appeal trial for February 19, 2018. But before the date arrives, lawyers representing the defendants and the prosecution were ordered to submit their skeletal arguments and file their authority in July or the latest sometime throughout the summer. This will give the judges adequate time to review their submissions ahead of the trial in February next year.
“The lawyers are excellent and they are on the case around the clock so we are confident that they will submit to the court the necessary docs,” sources close to Vybz Kartel told DHH. “Addi (Vybz Kartel) is in good spirit and is just trying to remain positive as we await the appeal trial. We all know that these things can be unpredictable so all we can do now is let the lawyers handle it and sit and wait.”
Vybz Kartel was sentenced to life for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams who is a former associate of his. Authorities say Kartel, Shawn Storm, Kahira Jones, and Andre St John conspire to kill Lizard over some missing guns. Lizard’s body has yet to be found and the defense argued during the 2014 trial that cops fabricated and tampered with evidence used to convict the four men.
