Drake debut his new single “Signs” on Thursday during the Louis Vuitton fashion show at Fashion Week.
The Toronto rap star first tweeted about the single yesterday touting it as a tribute to the new Louis Vuitton collection. Louis Vuitton’s artistic director Kim Jones as revealed that the new single will serve as the soundtrack to the fashion show on June 22nd. The song “Signs” was produced by OVO in-house producer Noah “40” Shebib and serves as the first solo single for Drake since his blockbuster album More Life which broke a number of streaming records this year.
“Like Lisa, you need a / Money and visa, and you get what you want / Always from me, I can’t say no / When you say “please”, I can’t say no / How you shine, you need a / Baby with me, uh, and I’m takin’ my time,” Drake sings. The single features Drake singing over a melo dancehall island beat that fits right into the Louis Vuitton show. While this is the first solo single for Drake since More Life, he has been appearing as guest features with the likes of DJ Khaled and even making a few appearances on tour with Future and The Weeknd.
Drake has been a highly in demand rapper so far this year. In fact the year is shaping up to be another blockbuster run for the Young Money emcee who has the second biggest album debut this year with More Life selling 505,000 copies in the opening week alone. The project has already certified platinum. Drizzy is also getting ready to host the first annual NBA awards and that should be interesting given how exciting the NBA finals was. What’s next for Drake, the sky is the limit, perhaps some more acting.
