Kendrick Lamar‘s new album DAMN. has already crossed the million mark in sales and is now certified platinum.
Interscope Records has confirmed that the album has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry of America. The album DAMN. is Kendrick Lamar’s third major-label project and is shaping up to be his most successful. Since it’s release on April 14 of this year, the project has been racking up some big numbers including an impressive opening week of 603,000 equivalent album units sold to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. The project also went on to sold an additional 238,000 equivalent album units in the second week making it the biggest debut of the year after surpassing Drake’s More Life.
DAMN. is on track to top the Billboard 200 chart for a third consecutive week. All fourteen singles on the album also debut on the Hot 100 chart in the first week giving the project some extra boost. The album also spawned Kendrick Lamar’s first solo number one song “HUMBLE.” While the next big hit off the project “DNA” is currently holding court at number seven on the chart.
Kendrick Lamar is getting ready to hit the road for his upcoming DAMN. Tour this summer with Travis Scott and D.R.A.M. as his guests. The tour will cover 17 dates with the possibility that more will be added.
