Lil Wayne gave his fans something to be excited about over the weekend when he announced that his long-awaited album Tha Carter 5 is coming soon.
Although his issues with Cash Money and Birdman are nowhere near over, at least one thing seems to be working out and that’s getting his long awaited album Carter V release for his fans. Both Lil Wayne and Birdman has revealed since the start of the year that the album will be coming in 2017. At his concert in Dallas on Saturday night, Weezy went on an anti-Cash Money rant while revealing that the project is coming.
“C5 coming soon,” Wayne told the roaring crowd. “F**k Cash Money! It’s the Roc!” This could mean that the album will be released under Jay Z’s label Roc Nation. Hov and Birdman also have a pending legal case in the courts over some previous Lil Wayne music that was released on TIDAL. So it will be interesting to get the details around this new deal if Carter V is released under Roc Nation. Wayne announced earlier this year that he is in possession of the masters for Carter V, but of course, he can’t legally release the project without Birdman signing off to it. Birdman himself also hinted that a deal is close and the album could see the light of day sometime this year.
