Drake taps Popcaan for a new single “Controlla.” The track will appear on the Toronto emcee’s upcoming album Views From the 6, due sometimes in April.
This marks the second single Drake released off the project this week. He also released another track called “These Days.”
“Controlla” has been gaining a lot of traction since its release among hip hop and dancehall fans. The track will be a sure hit among his female fans. This version is probably not the final production that will make it to the album, but take a listen to the rough cut below.
Listening to the two new singles also signals that Drake is deviating from his recent sounds. Perhaps this will give us an idea of the sound of the album Views From the 6.
“Knowing I’d lie for you / Thinking I’d die for you / Jodeci “Cry For You” / Do things when you want me too / Like controlla, controlla / Yeah, like controlla, controlla,” Drake sings on the hook.
Drake and Popcaan have been huge fans of each other for quite some time now so a collaboration was inevitable.
“OVO is straight up family because Drake was the one that said OVO Unruly,” Popcaan said during an interview in October. “Drake has me as Drizzy Drake in Jamaica. So when I view Drake as a young youth that is doing well in the game its the same way I view myself also.”

Song is a rough mix but sounds good. Its a good look for dancehall and Popcaan.
