There is a somber mood over the entire dancehall fraternity right now with the death of popular singer J Capri.
The dancehall diva succumb to injuries from a car crash on Friday morning after spending close to two weeks at the UWI hospital in Kingston.
As news of her death spread, several dancehall personalities have taken to social media to send their condolences to her family, including Konshens, Tifa, Ishawna, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Charly Black, Busy Signal, Mavado and more.
Beauty queen Yendi Phillipps posted a video on Instagram of herself dancehall to J Capri’s hit single “Reverse It.”
“Because I think she’s one of the most truly talented people dancehall music has seen in a long time,” she wrote. “I love her music and I’m happy she knew it!!! She reposted this video almost a year ago…and I proper fanned out! Lol Simply because I just rate her….I wish we got a little more time with you and your musical gift but I’ve learned to never ever question our creator.”
J Capri’s collaborater Konshens send his condolence to her family and friends.
“Cut way too short but God know everything. RIP. Condolences to the family and friends. saw what you did what you were doing and what you were about to do. I hope Jamaica,Dancehall and music lovers worldwide understand who and WHAT we just lost,” the “Realest Song” deejay wrote.
Sources also told us that Vybz Kartel, who collaborated with J Capri on “Mamacita,” has since send his condolence to her family.
