Snoop Lion, Ziggy Marley Make Reggae Grammy Preliminary List

Fans will be watching closely for who will win the Grammy for Best Reggae Album at the awards ceremony in February 2014.

Snoop Lion and Ziggy Marley are among the first names to make the preliminary list for the covetous Grammy.

Snoop Lion, who recently his moniker to Snoopzilla, released his reggae debut album Reincarnated in April 2013. The album sold 21000 copies in its first week of release and spawn the singles “Lighters Up,” “No Guns Allowed,” “Torn Apart” with Rita Ora, and “Here Comes The King.”

Ziggy Marley will be competing against Snoop with his latest album Reggae in my Head.

Ziggy already won four Grammy awards for Best Reggae Album, three of which he won with his band Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers.

In 1989 the band won their first Grammy with the album Conscious Party. In 1990 and 1999 the band won again with One Bright Day and Fallen Is Babylon respectively.

Ziggy Marley won his first Grammy as a solo artists for his 2006 album Love Is My Religion.

California based reggae band Fortunate Youth also made the Reggae Grammy preliminary list with their album It’s All A Jam.

The National Academy of Recordings, Arts and Sciences will make the final announcement for the five nominees for this year’s Best Reggae Album category on November 11, 2013.

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards will be held at the Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday, January 26, 2014.

  2. all a games. reggae is strong positive message, babylon will not allow reggae to be at the top,bob marley, peter tosh, culture, denise brown have push reggae to the top. satan is running the flesh of human being. the world is live a zoo no respect to nature but the creator has time the creator will take back this planet.
