That day he was arrested for possession of marijuana, which is illegal in Jamaica. He was also taken to several properties around Kingston that he owned or frequently visit where detectives conducted a heavy search and seize several equipments. However, that was the beginning of a faith no one knew was coming.
Three days later Vybz Kartel was charged with the murder of a St. Catherine promoter/businessman Barrington “Bossie” Burton. According to official police report, Burton, 27, was shot and killed by Vybz Kartel and a group of men while standing with friends alongside Walkers Avenue in the Gregory Park area. The “Dancehall Hero” deejay was also charged with illegal possession of a firearm.
Vybz Kartel Optimistic Ahead Of November Trial
Less than a month after he was charged with murder, Kartel, real name Adidja Palmer, was slapped with a second murder charge. Detectives say they have in their possession graphic video evidence linking Vybz Kartel to the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. Williams’ body was never found.
Vybz Kartel was jointly charged with protégé Shawn “Storm” Campbell, stylist Calvin Haye, and four other men.
Since then, Kartel and his co-accused have rocked up a mountain of related charges including conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
