Dancehall star Vybz Kartel was denied bail when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court this morning to answer Marijuana possession charges.
The “Cake Soap” deejay turned up for his court appointment clad in a grey pants, blue and white stripe shirt and a black vest.
Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, was refuse bail by Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey after his attorney made an application. He is schedule to return to court on November 10 on same charge.
The Portmore Empire deejay is also schedule to report to court tomorrow to answer more serious charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder and illegal possession of firearm. Vybz Kartel is charge with the murder of St. Catherine businessman Barrington “Bossie” Burton.
Yesterday another member of the Portmore Empire, Shawn Storm, turned himself into police after he was named as a person of interest late last week. Police say they are targetting members of the Gaza gang who they claim have been intimidating witnesses in a bid to scuttle the prosecution’s case.
According to police reports, several members of the gang have since been taken into custody.
