On the heals of rumors that dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel will not be performing at this year staging of Sting, another news broke that another dancehall Kingpin will not be gracing the stage.
Reports are that Gully god Mavado is not apart of the 2010 lineup for the one night only reggae show.
Mavado’s manager Julian Jones-Griffith told the Jamaican Star that, “He’s definitely not doing it.” In reference to performing at Sting in just over two weeks time.
Sting promoter Isaiah Laing also confirmed the reports.
“He won’t be on the show. I spoke to his manager and he said he would get back to me and he didn’t, so we went ahead with the show.”
Laing said he already have several other big guns in the lineup to fill the void left by Mavado and Vybz Kartel.
“We have the likes of Sizzla right in the slot there. We don’t think it will make a big difference. They (Mavado and Vybz Kartel) won’t be clashing and them by themselves won’t pull a thousand people.”
Among the crowd pullers that Laing said will make the show a success are the Beenie Man and Bounty Killer collaboration, Sizzla, I-Octane and Khago.
“The entire 13 warriors are gonna sell the show. No one person can’t do it. This is Sting. This show is going to be huge ’cause we have so much to sell the show. Every angle you look at, it’s going to be real excitement.”
The promoter also confirmed that dancehall queen Lady Saw will grace the stage after a 7 year hiatus.
Will you be at Sting since Mavado and Vybz Kartel will not be there?
