Some fans are even questioning whether or not the “Dancehall Hero” deejay has been recording music in prison.
But a rep for the deejay told Urban Islandz that they are literally sitting on a huge catalog of previously recorded unreleased material.
“Vybz Kartel was one of the hardest working artist in dancehall, he would literally be in the studio everyday recording new material and so after a while we end up with a hard drive full of unreleased music,” the rep told us.
“We are steadily mixing and releasing new Vybz Kartel as time goes by, and there are also plans to put together a double disc album next year,” the rep added.
Just this week a new Vybz Kartel song “6 Missed Calls” hit dancehall airwaves. The single was produced by Simon Howden of High Stakes Records.
The deejay’s rep told us than fans can look out for some hot new singles leading up to Christmas.
Vybz Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, is currently serving a life sentence in a maximum security prison for the murder of his former associate Clive “Lizard” Williams.
He will be eligible for parole in 35 years.
