Metro Boomin says the burning yacht in Miami is not his, but his new album Young Thug is very real.

The super producer made headlines last weekend after rumors surfaced claiming that a yacht belonging to him caught fire while docked in Miami, forcing several businesses, including a nightclub, to close its doors. According to Local10, Metro Boomin was forced to evacuate a yacht he rented in Miami over the weekend after it caught fire.

Several videos were posted on social media showing the boat engulfed with fire as authorities tried to put out the blaze. Fortunately for everyone on the yacht, it was docked when the fire started in the early hours of Sunday morning. Preliminary reports suggest all 15 occupants got off safely, and there were no reported injuries.

In the meantime, Metro Boomin appears to deny that it was his boat that caught fire. “Don’t believe everything you see online. Clout got the world in a chokehold,” he wrote in a message shared on his Instagram Story on Sunday (January 19).

Some fans joked about the incident saying that Drake had something to do with Metro Boomin’s yacht allegedly caught on fire. The producer didn’t address the Drake rumors, but he shared an update on Young Thug’s upcoming album. “Back to working on @thuggerthugger1 album,” he wrote.

It’s safe to say that Thugger is back to work on new music following his release from jail in November last year. The Atlanta rapper is still mostly confined to his home as he serves a lengthy probation after pleading guilty to Rico charges. Nevertheless, Metro Boomin’s words are the most concrete confirmation we have so far that Young Thug is working on a new album, which will be his first project since he was released from prison.

The album will be the follow-up to Young Thug’s last body of work, Business Is Business, which was also executive-produced and released in 2023 while the rapper was incarcerated. Thugger himself has not yet spoken about new music, but Lil Baby also hinted that he, Thugger, and Future could be working on a joint mixtape.

“Me and Future were working on a joint tape,” Lil Baby said in a new interview on Spotify’s A Day in the Life series. “We damn near got the joint tape done. And now Slime came home, you know he ain’t goin’ for that. He was like ‘Shiiit.’ It was actually Thug’s idea. When he was in jail, he was like, ‘Aye, call Pluto. I want y’all to do a tape together.’ He damn near named the tape and everything — this was before he got out.”

A release date is not yet known for both projects.
