Joe Budden shared that Lil Wayne recorded a Kendrick Lamar diss track after his phone call to K.Dot went unanswered.

Lil Wayne might’ve tried calling Kendrick Lamar after the West Coast rapper released his new album, GNX. K.Dot dropped the project without notice on Friday, sending his fans into a frenzy. However, there is a line on one of the songs, “wacced out murals,” which is seemingly aimed at Weezy following the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show debacle.

“Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud/ Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down,” K.Dot raps.

As you may already be aware, Kendrick Lamar is the headliner for the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show set for New Orleans, Lil Wayne’s hometown. The Cash Money rapper felt slighted by the decision by the powers that be to bane Kendrick the headliner, and a lot of folks in hip-hop agree with him that he should’ve been selected to perform in front of his hometown crowd at one of the biggest sporting events in the world.

Joe Budden claimed on his podcast that Lil Wayne tried to call Kendrick Lamar, but the Compton rapper didn’t pick up the call. As a result, Weezy recorded a diss track. “I’m hearing that somebody picked up the phone, tried to call and see what the energy was, I’m hearing that Kendrick didn’t answer,” Budden said. “I’m hearing that Wayne went in the booth.”

Only time will tell if that supposed diss track will see the light of day. However, the consensus now is that Kendrick Lamar is at the top of his game, but Wayne is one of the most prolific rappers ever to take up the mic. Would a beef with K.Dot be good for his legacy, or would it further cement his place in history as one of the greatest ever to do it?
