DJ Envy catches some heat on social media after sharing a video of his family’s Lil Kim Halloween costume party.
The Breakfast Club co-host would’ve gotten “Donkey of the Day” if it was up to the public, with some fans urging Charlamagne Tha God to give him the title. What was intended to be a fun-filled Halloween costume party for DJ Envy, his wife Gia Casey, and their children, quickly turned into a real nightmare online for the parents, particularly the dad, who shared a video on his X page.
The post saw Envy hopping on FaceTime with the New York rap icon, who gave her approval of the 8-year-old girl wearing an outfit similar to her 1997 music video fit “Crush On You.” The fit famously featured Lil Kim wearing her underwear covered by a fur jacket and matching wig and sliders. The iconic video saw appearances from Lil’ Cease, Aaliyah, Sheek Louch, Uncle Luke, and other famous names from that rap era. DJ Envy’s young daughter accurately depicted Lil Kim with her Halloween fit, leaving some fans in disbelief.
DJ Envy received some thumbs up from some celebrities like Cardi B, who wrote, “She took the assignment very serious SHE ATE THAT!” However, some celebrities and fans called out the radio host calling the Halloween fit “wildly inappropriate” and “disappointing” to say the least. “I could understand if your wife played Kim, But your daughter? Really? This is KRAZY,” Black Ink Crew’s Walt wrote.
“The intentions was innocent but no Envy this ain’t it my brother she is way too young for that perhaps that role should’ve gone to one of the adult women if not your wife cmon,” one person wrote. Another added, “Super cringe and the parents deserves to be named Donkey of the Day for this man take this sh– down expeditiously.”
DJ Envy eventually deleted the video, but not before several blogs got a hold of it and re-posted it on social media. The Breakfast Club co-host and his wife also shared another video of one of their daughter channeling Aaliyah in “One In A Million.” While some folks also levied criticisms against them for that clip, a lot of folks including Missy Elliott gave them a round of applause for the creativity.
