Lil Durk was arrested and charged with murder for hire stemming from an alleged plot to kill Quando Rondo.
Within hours of the arrest of five people in Chicago, US Marshals picked up Lil Durk, real name Durk Devontay Banks, in Broward County Florida. Urban Islandz reported on Thursday (October 24) that five people the feds say are associates of Durk’s OTF collective were indicted on charges including conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, committing murder-for-hire involving a death, and use of a machine gun in a violent crime resulting in death.
According to the grand jury indictment, the five men, Kavon London Grant, AKA “Vonnie”, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, AKA “DeDe”, Keith Jones, AKA “Flacka”, David Brian Lindsey, AKA “Browneyez”, and Asa Houston, AKA “Boogie”, traveled to California in August 2022 with the intent to killed Quando Rondo, who they blamed for the 2020 killing of rapper King Von, a member of the OTF collective. The feds say a credit card linked to the label was used to purchase plane tickets and rental cars as the men went to Los Angeles after learning the whereabouts of Rondo.
They engaged the Savannah rapper in a drive-by shooting at a gas station in Los Angeles that resulted in the death of Quando Rondo’s cousin, Lul Pab, real name Saviay’a Robinson. A video showed Rondo overcome by grief while speaking to responding officers near the scene of the shooting.
The feds say an unnamed person at the OTF label offered “lucrative music opportunities” to anyone who killed Rondo. That person’s name has yet to be revealed.
Lil Durk is currently being held without bond in a Broward County jail awaiting his first court hearing set for Friday, his attorneys, Brian Bieber and Alek Ubieta, confirmed to TMZ. The Chicago rapper’s OTF is also fighting allegations that the label is a gang. FBG Duck’s Estate has also filed a lawsuit against the rapper and the label for wrongful death. It’s safe to say that Durk’s legal troubles are growing by the day.
