Popcaan and Vybz Kartel share tributes to Drake, who celebrates his 38th birthday today.

The Canadian rapper started his birthday celebration last night with a trip to the club, where he blew $50,000. Before hitting the club, Drake marked the occasion with his family and friends. A video has since surfaced showing the OVO chief surrounded by people, including his father, who sing Happy Birthday. The festivities included a 3-piece cake and lots of refreshments.

On Thursday, dancehall star Popcaan shared a photo of himself and Drake while penning a tribute to the rapper. “More life me family, more blessings, long life and prosperity. Them fi know you soon pull up pan the island again and get the whole place crazy. Unruly rep to the fullest! @champagnepapi me Killy,” the St. Thomas deejay wrote. Dancehall artist Chi Ching Ching commented, saying, “More life drizzy blessings and more prosperity.”

Vybz Kartel shared a black-and-white photo of Drake while writing, “Blessed Earthday Champagne Papi.”

The dancehall legend, who was released from prison in July this year, recently shared his desire to collaborate with Drake and Cardi B. Drizzy has previously shared that he was a huge fan of Vybz Kartel when he joined the “Free Kartel” movement earlier this year as the dancehall artist appealed his conviction.

In the meantime, Vybz Kartel gave fans a scare earlier this week after falling ill at a nightclub in Kingston. The “Fever” artist received criticism for his drinking and partying habits since his release from prison. The artist fires back at critics, saying he wasn’t feeling well because of the heat inside the enclosed venue and was only drinking champagne.

Kartel is currently working on his health to get into his best shape ahead of his Freedom Street concert at the National Stadium in Kingston on New Year’s Eve. The dancehall artist is expected to perform a 3-hour set.
