Former Digicel Rising Star Chris Martin is one of few contestants from the talent show to become a mainstream recording artist. Although since winning Rising Star he has only record a handful of songs, Martin maybe making some major strides in Europe this summer, propelled by his collaboration with German Reggae singer Gentleman.
The second single from Gentleman’s new album is doing exceptionally well in several sections of Europe, resulting in an increase demand for both Martin and Gentle. The single “To The Top” is currently climbing the pop single charts in Germany where it already peaked at number 14.
“The song has been in the making for two years now. I met Gentleman’s manager and told him that I wanted to work with the German artiste. He recorded a song on a rhythm that was built by Big Yard and then the manager remembered that I wanted to work with him and that’s how the link came about,” Martin told Jamaican journalists.
Reports out of the artist camp also said he will officially join Gentleman on his upcoming European tour.
