Buju Banton link with Sean Paul his new video, “Trust.”
As you guessed it, the video depicts the downside of the constant use of cellphones, especially it’s impact on relationships. The directors definitely wanted the message to sink in, as we see a man seemingly meeting his demise after his lady searches his phone during the opening scene of the video. The video ironically cuts to a brief text message conversation between Buju Banton and legendary producer Dave Kelly before jumping into a raunchy club scene. Viewers get to enjoy shots of beautiful, skimpily clad ladies as they dance and party under neon lasers.
The video is filled with everything Jamaican, from portraits of Beres Hammond the I Threes, to a cameo appearance from dancehall rudeboy Sean Paul, as he outs his splif on the cellphone. Rest assured that this is not the only time we see phones being destroyed. The element of fire pops up in many of the later scenes, as multiple cellphones are set ablaze. We also get some beautiful cinematographic shots as Buju Banton interrogates himself. The video editors definitely put a lot of thought into this project by injecting some eye-grabbing elements to this video.
Buju Banton recently confirmed signing with JAY-Z’s Roc Nation. Since then, we have been blessed with some incredible videos for “Steppa” and now “Trust.”
