The Marathon Continues. DJ Khaled, YG, John Legend, and Marsha Ambrosius performed a well-received tribute set for the late Nipsey Hussle.
Last night at the BET awards saw a tribute given to the Ermias Joseph Asghedom better known as, Nipsey Hussle. A death which was felt deeply in the U.S, especially in the black and Hip Hop community. “He was a real one,” they repeatedly echo as the rapper/entrepreneur was making moves once thought impossible. His marathon store in his community was one of his more celebrated achievements as long as making his way into the industry on his own terms as an independent artiste.
All that considered this tribute was chilling as you saw Nipsey being displayed on the big screen behind the set. The crowd were on their feet, and the family was featured heavily by the cameras as they seemed to be proud to see the impact their loved one had made on the world.
The tribute included multiple songs which were fittingly ended with the Hit song “Higher” featuring himself and John legend on a DJ Khaled production. Nipsey’s raps brought the nostalgia and John Legend’s strong vocals made the reality sink in. We will never see Nipsey again. The late Crenshaw rapper was also given the BET Awards’ Humanitarian Award for his work in his community before his death.
R.I.P Nipsey Hussle and kudos to BET for giving him a great tribute.
