Dancehall Gully Gad Mavado drew a massive crowd in Guyana on last weekend, while rival deejay Vybz Kartel failed to show, citing death threats.
Some 20,000 fans flocked Guyana’s National Stadium for the Jamzone Regional Night Concert. Vado took the stage at approximately 1:30 am Saturday morning, kicking things off with his hit single “So Special” to screaming fans. From than on the Gully Gad was in control, belting out hits from his huge catalogue.
The “Delilah” deejay set lasted a little over an hour and fans were obvious pleased with his performance.
Vybz Kartel, who was also an headline act on the show, reportedly exited his flight before it left for Guyana on Friday. The Portmore Empire deejay said, “dem got man inna Guyana dat want to kill or kidnap meh.”
Although he was given the assurance of a high level security detail, Vybz Kartel did not fly to Guyana for the show.
