Despite their close relationship, Kid Cudi criticized Kanye West and Drake back in 2016 in a move that almost ended their friendship. He pretty much called both of them clowns in a rant on Twitter. “Everyone thinks they’re soooo great. Talkin top 5 and be having 30 people write songs for them,” Cudi tweeted. “My tweets apply to who they apply. Ye, Drake, whoever. These ni**as dont give a f**k about me. And they aint f**kin with me.”
Kanye West then blast Cudi at his concert in Tampa, Florida telling him to put some respect on his name. “Kid Cudi, don’t ever mention ‘Ye name. I birthed you,” Ye said on stage. “We all dealing with that emo sh*t all the time; me, Pat, Don C. Don’t ever mention ‘Ye name. Don’t try to say who I can do songs with. You mad ’cause I’m doing songs with Drake. Ain’t nobody telling ‘Ye who to do songs with. Respect the God!”
That episode took placed in September of 2016 and by December they put their differences aside. Kanye praised Kid Cudi calling his album inspiring.
