Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd Collaborating On ‘Black Panther’ Album

Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd are joining forces for the upcoming Black Panther: The Album.

The TDE rapper and Tog Dawg are executive producing the project and now we are learning that The Weeknd will be making some contributions. The movie itself is gearing up to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest premiere this year with pre-sale tickets already sold out. Kendrick Lamar is hoping that the hype around the moving will fuel interest in the soundtrack and already it’s showing signs that it will.

There are a few singles off the project that has already been released including a cut that will be featured on Jay Rock’s upcoming album. Complex reported that Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd are putting together a collaboration for the soundtrack. There is no word yet on when the single or the album will arrive but definitely look out for it sooner than later.

K-Dot and The Weeknd have previously collaborated on the Canadian singer’s last album Starboy on the single “Sidewalks.” That track was a huge hit among fans of two of the biggest music stars in the world. The R&B singer posted a Black Panther artwork on his Instagram earlier this week, a clear sign that he has something coming on the project.

Aside from curating the Black Panther soundtrack, Kendrick is getting ready to go on tour with his labelmate SZA. Top Dawg Entertainment recently announced the “Top Dawg Entertainment Championship Tour” with the rapper and the singer as co-headliners. Lance Skiiwalker, Isaiah Rashad, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, SiR, and Ab-Soul are also on the lineup. The label will be announcing the tour dates soon but it’s looking like another blockbuster affair for K-Dot and the TDE camp who have been having an impressive run over the past few years.
