Remy Ma and Lil Kim come through with some heat on their new collaborative single “Wake Me Up.”
The song was released on Tuesday, November 8, and on the same day we learned that the Love and Hip Hop New York star is working on her new album. Word of the song first popped up last week when the two female rappers were spotted in the studio. There were some talks that they were joining forces for a new Nicki Minaj diss track, but Lil Kim shot down those rumors during her recent interview with Ebro In The Morning on Hot 97 radio.
Remy Ma has been slowly making her comeback in hip hop and this year she drew a lot of attention for a vicious diss track against Nicki Minaj, “shETHER.” Despite Lil Kim’s denial on the track being a Nicki diss, Remy has some lyrics in her verse that points straight to the Young Money rapper. “You fake-ass b*tch, you owe homage, pay that sh*t! / Spray that fif’, the crown, I’mma take that sh*t / ‘Cause you a clown and Homey don’t play that sh*t,” she raps. “I heard he lay that d*ck, you let him filet that fish / You just met ‘im, how he bae that quick?”
That last line is believe to be a shot at Nicki’s relationship with Nas, despite not calling any names. Remy Ma has started work on her new album, Seven Winters, Six Summers, due sometime next year and will be the first project on her new record deal with Columbia Records. The New York rapper signed a seven figures deal with the major label last month, even after calling out other rappers like Nicki Minaj and Drake for having big label deals.
