Nicki Minaj pays homage to Foxy Brown on her birthday telling the female rap icon that she is the reason why she started rapping.
Foxy Brown celebrated her 39th birthday on Wednesday (September 6) and a surprised posted popped up on Nicki Minaj Instagram account with a photo of Foxy from back in the day. “I may have never even started rapping if it wasn’t for her,” the Young Money rapper said. “KING FOX. Her flow & delivery is still unmatched. You can’t listen to me w/o hearing her influence. She’s still the only thing I compete w/when it comes to precision of flow, delivery & execution. Trini QUEEN Happy Birthday my love @foxybrown.”
Brown and Nicki once had a small beef but the two ladies have since worked out their differences. After all, they are both of Trinidadian descent and have publicly appeared on the same stage together in the past. Brown even hinted earlier this year that she would be dropping a Remy Ma diss track in defense of Nicki so their friendship runs deep. Foxy have in the past collaborated with a bunch of dancehall artists including Spragga Benz, Baby Cham, and Sizzla Kalonji. She currently has a new song with Spice coming out soon.
While Foxy Brown didn’t publicly respond to Nicki Minaj statement on Instagram, sources told Urbanislandz.com that the two ladies spoke on the phone and even spoke about collaborating together. “They spoke to each other yesterday, Foxy called up Nicki to tell her thanks for the shout-out on Instagram,” sources said. “They have been friends for years and regularly text each other.” Foxy gave birth to a baby boy on her birthday last year so she posted a photo of her son on the Gram saying, “My Gorgeous, Greatest, Gray Eyed BIRTHDAY GIFT GLORY TO GOD My GREATEST Hit Obsessively IN LOVE.”
