Lil Baby has stepped forward to address reports he was taken into custody by federal agents.
The Atlanta rapper has been under scrutiny this week after APD police blamed him for the murders of two teenagers. On Thursday (Feb 27), Lil Baby again made headlines after rumors surfaced claiming he was arrested by federal authorities. It turns out that the rumors were fake, at least according to a message posted on the rapper’s Instagram Story.
“Thanks for all the concerns,” Baby wrote. “Please don’t be misinformed by fake news.”
Prior to Lil Baby’s statement, one of his associates, Therealmohawk, echoed a similar statement while addressing fans who were sending him threads of the rumors on social media. “Y’all stop sending them fake false rumors around to people. Them lies no truth in it,” he wrote while expressing his frustrations about the rumors. “Social media have y’all passing around fake narratives of people.”

Coincidentally, the Lil Baby arrest rumors arrived right on the heels of the Atlanta Police Department, APD, press conference this week, where a police spokesperson, Major Ralph Woolfolk, blamed a 2024 shooting incident on the rapper. Police stated that the shooting resulted in the deaths of two teenagers.
At this point, it doesn’t seem like Lil Baby was directly responsible for the teenagers’ killings. However, police say he was shooting a music video when gunfire erupted. Atlanta police say it was irresponsible of the rapper to set up his music video set in a dangerous part of the city known for gang violence.
Major Ralph Woolfolk also announced that the police would hold Lil Baby accountable for his role in the deadly shooting in May 2024. What that accountability entails is not yet known, but we now know that it was likely the source of the rumors about his arrest.
In the meantime, police are offering $50,000 to anyone who can provide information about the persons responsible for the killings.
Lil Baby is getting ready to drop his next album, Dominique, sometime this year.
