Lil Durk has broken his silence on his legal troubles following his arrest last month.
The Chicago rapper, whose real name is Durk Banks, was arrested in Miami, Florida, on October 25 and charged with murder-for-hire for a 2022 shooting in Los Angeles. Lil Durk has since been extradited to California, where he was hit with two new charges and remanded in custody without bond. Five of his OTF, Only The Family, associates are also facing trial for the same case.
Lil Durk plead not guilty to the charges of conspiracy, use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire, and weapons charges. His tentative trial date is set for January 7, 2025, in Los Angeles. The feds have indicated that the Chicago native is their primary target in their investigation into the shooting death of Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson in a drive-by shooting in August 2022 that targeted rapper Quando Rondo.
Lil Durk’s affiliate, 900bruhbruh, shared an audio recording of an alleged phone call they had from behind bars, and it appears that Durkio is in a good space despite the severity of the case against him.
“Just got off the phone with my brudda @lildurk he in good spirits staying positive and fighting to get back home to his kids and family,” 900bruhbruh wrote on Instagram. “We not glorifying negativity, we’re more than just street guys. that’s actually a understatement we’re men of honor & code no matter our financial status..bro hit the Mainline with the rest of our kind…NO PC #FREESMURK #FREETRIGGAROME.”
In the audio, Durk appears to tell 900bruhbruh that he is doing fine when asked if he needs anything. The rapper also reportedly denied that he was in protective custody due to his celebrity status and that he was being treated well by other inmates at the same facility where he is housed. 900bruhbruh also calls for Durk’s freedom.
The exact relationship between the two men isn’t clear, but 900bruhbruh appears to be an OTF affiliate judging from his previous posts of himself photoed with Lil Durk. The “All My Life” rapper was arrested within hours of US Marshals picking up five of his associates in Chicago. According to authorities, the rapper was about to board a private jet destined for Europe when he was arrested.
Lil Durk faces life in prison if convicted of the crime.
