Popcaan marks ten years since the release of his landmark album, Where We Come From, with a deluxe version.

The Unruly Boss received rave reviews for the album, which was released on January 1, 2014, and executive produced by Dre Skull of Mixpak Records. The album featured 13 tracks including “Addicted,” “Everything Nice,” “Love Yuh Bad,” and “Hustle” featuring Pusha T. Popcaan and Dre Skull released an anniversary deluxe edition on Friday, November 15, with two additional tracks, “Beat The Struggles” and “Wond’t Finesse Me.” There is also an acoustic edition of “Where We Come From.”

“I’m very proud of the work I did on WWCF [Where We Come From] and the doors it opened for me and dancehall music in general. From international collaborations to topping charts, to the stages I have been blessed to perform on for my fans, it has truly been a blessing,” Popcaan said in an interview with the Observer.

Where We Come From peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart and No. 21 on the Heatseekers Albums chart. The St. Thomas native received high praise from dancehall fans following the release of the project. The song “Too Bad” was also sampled by Drake and Rihanna in 2016 on their collaboration “Too Good.” That track eventually became a massive hit and has been certified 5X platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, RIAA.

Popcaan says the deluxe is a thank you to his fans who have been supporting him over the years. “This deluxe version is for my fans — the Unruly family — that have appreciated and supported the album for a decade and counting, this is specially for them,” he stated. “We have two new tracks on the album, from the Where We Come From era that we recorded but never released or included on any project.”

Popcaan recently reunited with his former mentor, Vybz Kartel, months after the Portmore Empire leader was released from prison. The Unruly deejay is set to perform at Kartel’s first post-prison show Freedom Street at the National Stadium in Kingston on New Year’s Eve. The show will mark a Portmore Empire reunion of the sort, with several past members expecting to take the stage with Vybz Kartel.

In the meantime, Where We Come From Deluxe is now available on streaming platforms.
