Beenie Man counting his blessings after a near-miss accident in Jamaica. The dancehall legend says he is feeling some soreness and neck pain but is otherwise just shaken up from the ordeal.
Police sources confirmed with the Gleaner on Friday (September 27, 2024), that Beenie Man and his team narrowly escaped what could’ve been a deadly accident in St. Mary. The dancehall legend and other members of his team were traveling in a Toyota Coaster bus when the driver suddenly came upon a landslide blocking the road in the Castleton area.
The bus driver slammed on the break to avoid the crash throwing the occupants forward. It’s unclear if Beenie Man and others were wearing seat belts, but thankfully no one was seriously injured. Jamaica has been getting heavy rains over the past few days particularly in the parishes of St. Mary and Portland, causing severe flooding and landslides.
Beenie Man was heading to Portland for a performance at the Superstars of Port Antonio Marlin tournament at the Errol Flynn Marina in Port Antonio. The “SIMMA” deejay managed to make it to the event and performed a well-received set, but was visibly shaken by the ordeal. Beenie was complaining about feeling pain in his neck as a result of the sudden thrust forward from the hard braking.
The Doc is still recovering from injuries he sustained from a previous car accident, which further highlights the nervy feeling from this near miss incident.
Beenie Man recently got engaged to his girlfriend Camille ‘Lee’ McIntosh after popping the question at a romantic getaway. The couple have known each other for over two decades but only started dating in 2021 when both of them became single. The dancehall legend credited her for helping him through some tough times and with his business affairs including his new seafood restaurant in Kingston, Simma Seafood and Lounge.
