Bobby Shmurda will be under strict parole terms at least until 2026.
The recently freed rapper has been enjoying his long-awaited freedom for a few weeks and looks like he is planning to keep it that way. It turns out that Bobby Shmurda may not have come back to the life he knew before going in, that’s until 2026, when his parole ends.
In a report via TMZ, it was revealed that the artiste credited with being the founder of Brooklyn drill music will remain on parole for five years, which will end on February 23, 2026. The terms of his parole indicate that he has an 8 PM curfew, and he has to submit to substance abuse testing, so in short, no drugs or alcohol. He will also have to undergo counseling for anger and aggression. He is also required to have an occupation, but it’s unclear if being a rapper falls into that category for legal purposes. One thing is very clear, his live performances and potential club appearances will be affected.
In February, Bobby Shmurda was released from a six-year stay in prison. He has remained busy since getting out, rekindling old friendships while making new ones. Earlier in March, Shmurda hosted a number of parties during the All-Star Weekend in Atlanta. He also got in the studio with producers Mike Will Made-It and Zaytoven.
In an interview with GQ after he was released from prison, Shmurda revealed that the positive energy from his myriad of fans is what helped to keep him motivated to continue his career. He said, “I didn’t really care too much for it until I went to jail and I seen how the fans were loyal. I can’t name a week that I didn’t see at least 10 [pieces] of fan mail, throughout the whole bid.”
Bobby Shmurda is now getting ready to release new music. Interestingly, on the day Shmurda was released from prison, his 2014 hit “Hot N*gga” was certified 5x platinum by the RIAA. He was convicted in 2016 on charges of conspiracy to murder, weapons possession, and reckless endangerment.
