2 Chainz Push Back Against Reports His Escobar Restaurant Shut Down Over COVID-19

2 Chainz is fighting back at reports his Atlanta restaurant, Escobar, was shut down due to COVID-19 violations.

The coronavirus pandemic has changed just about everything, and despite restrictions slowly being lifted from state to state, there are still a great deal of new rules and policies that should be followed to prevent the spread of the virus. For business owners, this means making sure that customers are social distancing and using protective measures like masks. According to TMZ, the restaurant and lounge owned by rapper 2 Chainz has been shut down for violating these new guidelines.

Georgia State Police noticed that the popular spot was “loud, busy, and occupied” late at night on Monday, and further investigation led to the closure of Escobar restaurant and lounge.

Further proof of the restaurant’s violations was seen in videos on Escobar’s Instagram page, which showed people attending a Memorial Day party without wearing masks or social distancing.

Attendees formed a long line outside the location, and guests inside were seen dancing, smoking hookah, and poppin’ bottles. The turn up was soon shut down by police who asked the manager to evacuate the building and close its doors after being cited for “violating executive orders regarding protocol issued due to COVID-19.”

2 Chainz seemed to be taking the appropriate safety measures in early April when he limited Escobar’s service to take-out only and announced he would be focusing on feeding homeless people in his community during the global health crisis. However, Georgia outlined restaurant reopening guidelines earlier this month that allowed Escobar to offer dine-in service once again, provided they adhere to certain limitations such as only allowing ten patrons per 300 square feet.

It seems the Memorial Day party hosted by the lounge was not compliant with these new guidelines. Over the next few weeks, we will likely see a great deal of similar situations as business owners attempt to strike a balance between public health guidelines and making up for lost time financially.

In his response on Instgaram, 2 Chainz said, “Still reporting Escobar been closed. That was on Sunday! Today is Wednesday can yall find something else to report and get off @2chainz nuttz!”
