Rihanna is a huge Roddy Ricch stan.
These days, Rihanna has gone from ANTI to Antisocial. While fans of the “Love on the Brain” singer (I’m) patiently await her next album, she has apparently been listening to Roddy Ricch. The “Die Young” rapper has worked with some big names in the hip hop industry like Meek Mill and the late Nipsey Hussle but has yet to release a debut studio album. Until now, that is. Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial dropped on Friday via Atlanta Records, and the Compton rapper already has a big fan — Rihanna.
The 21-year-old shared an old Instagram Story of Riri dressed in a pale blue ball gown with long gloves, getting down to Roddy’s single “Out Tha Mud,” and even joining in on the chorus. Expressing his gratitude, Roddy captioned the video, “It’s always unlimited love to u.”
Despite this being his first official album, the young rapper has already made a name for himself amongst critics and fellow industry big shots. Ty Dolla $ign, MixedbyAli, DJ Mustard, and Marshmello have collaborated with him, and his work with Hussle has led to three Grammy nominations practically overnight. In light of the “Victory Lap” rapper’s murder in March, Roddy has described the nominations as “bittersweet.”
As for Rihanna? Well, lovers of the Barbados-born artist are still waiting for her 9th studio album, which she had originally promised to release in 2019. With just three weeks of the year left to go, it looks unlikely that R9 will make it onto the shelves before the ball drops at Times Square, but when we eventually do get whatever Riri has in store for us, it is expected to have a reggae flavor. She will also be hoping to break the record set by her last release, ANTI, which made her the first black woman in Billboard history to have an album spend 200 weeks on the Billboard 200.
