Who knew Lil’ Kim had a thing for Drake.
After a few silent years, Lil’ Kim launched back onto the music scene last month. The “Pray For Me” rapper released her fifth studio album, which was given the numerical title 9 on October 11th. It marked the first time that the 44-year-old, who was huge in the late 1990s and early 2000s, had released an album in 14 years. The album will be a double-disc, with the sophomore edition set to drop early next year. The title, Kim says, has a spiritual connection, with the number playing a significant part throughout her life.
“It’s a spiritual awakening number for me. Also, when I started out in Junior M.A.F.I.A. it was 9 members, my daughter was born June 9th, Biggie died March 9th, it is 2019. It’s a powerful number for me,” she said at the 2019 BET Awards. “I’m very spiritual and one day God was talking to me and I was like ‘7 is my favorite number’ and He was like, ‘Yes, but 9 is your favored number’ and I said thank you, Jesus, I love you. I’m going with 9.”
Even though Kim has just released 9 fresh new tracks, the Brooklyn-native already has her focus on future music — and just who she’d like to join her. Kimmy also told Bevy Smith on SiriusXM that she thinks that she and Lady Gaga would be able to do something really special.
Lil Kim then tried to shoot her shot with one of the hottest rappers around at the moment, Drake. “And Drake, maybe. You know I love him. That’s different. We’ll do a lot of other things special, too,” she teased. “He’s just very talented. He’s funny. He’s cool. He’s really, really cute.”
Maybe it’s God’s plan.
