JAY-Z can’t believe Yo Gotti lost a half a million dollars on a blackjack table.
When you are hip-hop’s first-ever billionaire, $500,000 doesn’t seem like that much money. But when JAY-Z watched Yo Gotti lose a half a million dollars within seconds, he still couldn’t believe his eyes; he was shooked. Gotti was one of many A-list celebrities showed up for the Shawn Carter Foundation Gala over the weekend at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The event raised $6 million for charity with the help of a blackjack tournament that demanded a buy-in of $100K.
A video posted by DJ Akademiks shows Memphis rapper Yo Gotti taking his turn as he apparently put a half a million dollars on the table. But Gotti wasn’t the luckiest of players as the dealer turned over a perfect 21, and just like that, his bet was lost. JAY-Z couldn’t even believe the turn of events, and in the video, you can hear him say, “Oh my goodness!” as he walks away from the game in total shock. Gotti himself seemed to be stunned, and he barely reacted to his huge loss.
But on the plus side, the money went to a good cause. The winner of the blackjack tournament walked away with $500,000 while the rest of the kitty was donated to charity. Technology entrepreneur Marcelo Claure ended up beating out both Gotti and JAY-Z for the jackpot. The 4:44 rapper/mogul created The Shawn Carter Foundation alongside his mother, Gloria Carter, back in 2013. The organization helps to provide low-income students with scholarships, college workshops, study abroad opportunities, and more.
So with overall, Yo Gotti shouldn’t feel THAT bad about losing that half a million, right? Peep the viral video.
