Kodak Black will soon learn his fate regarding only some of the legal troubles.
Florida rapper Kodak Black has been sitting in jail for the last six months after he was accused of using false information to obtain a gun, and he will soon learn the consequences of that crime. Kodak pleaded guilty in August to two counts of knowingly making a false and fictitious written statement in connection with the acquisition and attempted acquisition of a firearm from a federally licensed firearms dealer. According to Bossip, the “ZEZE” rapper’s legal team is begging the judge for a lesser sentence while he faces 8-10 years behind bars.
It was recently revealed that Kodak Black will be sentenced Wednesday, November 13, in a Miami courtroom. His lawyers argued that because Kodak confessed to the crime and is banned from buying guns (because he is out on bond stemming from separate rape charges) that he should be sentenced to no more than three to three and a half years in prison. Kodak, born Bill K. Kapri, was arrested back in May right before he was about to take the stage at Rolling Loud festival in Miami. Although the judge granted him his freedom to be released on a $500,000 bond, authorities argued that he should sit in jail until his trial and the judge eventually agreed.
After months of maintaining his innocence, Kodak filed for a “change of plea” hearing on August 14 and admitted to lying on a gun application. The sentencing tomorrow will put these charges to bed, but Kodak is still fighting a separate sexual misconduct case in South Carolina that he was out on bond for. A hearing for that case has yet to be scheduled. Best case scenario for Kodak is obviously walking away a free man tomorrow, but it looks as though he will be sitting in prison for at least three years, if not more.
