French Montana was not happy with his security guard.
After presenting the award for Best Latin Video at the VMAs Monday night, French Montana and his crew were spotted in Tribeca Tuesday morning where they got in a minor scuffle on the street outside of the Amish Market. TMZ reported that a man wearing a red shirt attacked French and missed, but landed a hit on one of his associates from behind and incited a brawl. Videos obtained by TMZ show the “Unforgettable” rapper spazzing out on his bodyguards for letting the man get that close.
Police were called to the scene, but no charges were filed, and no one was seriously hurt. The attacker allegedly fled the scene.
The site later obtained additional footage that shows French screaming “Go over there n***a! Be security n***a!” towards his bodyguard when a man recording the incident from behind says, “Hire me son.” The Moroccan born MC was already on edge and turned around and smacks the phone out of the man’s hand. The video continues, and it sounds like an altercation began after that moment.
French had just come off a major moment at the VMAs where he made a public stance against the anti-immigration policies under the Trump administration alongside actress Alison Brie. French used his moment as a presenter for the Best Latin Video category to remind viewers that he too is an immigrant and said: “I feel like we are the people that make this country and I feel like I wanna be the voice.”
