Safaree Samuels is currently in Jamaica supporting his idol Bounty Killer’s charity.
The dancehall legend has adapted the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) as part of his annual charitable initiative, and he is getting some support from some of his famous friends. Bounty Killer enlisted the help of Love and Hip Hop: New York star Safaree Samuels to help paint and assist in other refurbishment work at the hospital for his Labor Day project. Safaree is a massive fan of Killer’s music, and the two have been friends for years.
“I flew in to Jamaica early just for this! Labour Day in JA Today at the main hospital in Jamaica KPH, I joined @grunggaadzilla and put in some work painting and Donated A/C units to the hospital,” Safaree wrote. “Yo Bounty killa must’ve been a painter in his past life cuz him BADDDDD Money means nothing if you can’t give back! It feels amazing being able to do this in jamiaca with so much love from the people! Big up @rumbloodmuzic @presskaymusic Fi always making sure I’m STR88888 this was definitely a Dream come true.”
Bounty Killer was born at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital (VJH) which shared the same compound as the KPH. At age sixteen, Killer, real name Rodney Pryce, was shot and injured. He credited the staffs at the KPH for helping save his life.
“The KPH is the biggest public hospital in the Caribbean,” Killer said. “It is the place all the poor people come to. Most of we weh grow up in the garrison, or the ghetto as they call it, this is the hospital that we access. It is the hospital I came to when I got shot as a boy at 16, and they saved my life so it special to me.”
Bounty Killer plans to enlist the help of corporate Jamaica next year as he continues to help improve the hospital.
Winford Williams was there with the Warlord and Safaree assisting in the painting.
