DJ Envy is defending his reasons for blackballing Nicki Minaj.
DJ Envy doesn’t like Nicki Minaj and he has never been shy about it. The Queen rapper has also been very vocal about getting blackballed by New York DJs and radio station. During yesterday’s broadcast of The Breakfast Club, Envy played a snippet of Nicki’s new freestyle track “Barbie Gone Bad,” and immediately his co-host, Charlamagne Tha God, asked him to address his beef with the Young Money rapper and he said it’s because of her beef with fellow New York disc jockey DJ Self.
“I thought I was the only that wasn’t playing her record,” DJ Envy said in response to Charlamagne suggesting that he is the only DJ not playing Nicki’s music. She even had a line about getting blackballed in NY on the record.
The problem with Charlamagne’s statement is that a lot of other New York disc jockeys have been quietly keeping fewer and fewer Nicki Minaj music in their sessions. On the other hand, Cardi B’s music has been playing nonstop by every DJ in every club in NY.
DJ Envy thinks hes the only one when in reality many DJ in NYC dont play Nicki current music. They'll spin Cardi 4 times and then play just a verse of Good form then back to cardi. I peep it and so did she.
